CBD Dosage Guide

As always, before trying CBD be sure to talk to your doctor about appropriate dosage and potential risks. This is especially important if you are taking prescription medication or are already using a CBD product or CBD-based medication.

How Much CBD Is Right For Me?

There are many variables that go into deciding how much CBD you should take and each variable needs to be understood and taken into account for correctly dosing your right amount of CBD.

Your individual dosage of CBD is determined by the concentration of CBD that you are taking, your weight, the severity of the condition you are treating, and your body chemistry. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all dosage and most people will experience a period of trial and error before they find their right dose- and it is completely normal! As your physiology changes from age, internal and external factors so do your endocannabinoid receptors which are responsible for the interactions with CBD. As a result, your ideal dosage of CBD will most likely change over time.

What Are You Treating?

As with any regimen, it is imperative that you have a goal of what you want to accomplish and stick with it. The same applies to your CBD wellness journey.

Because CBD can help alleviate many ailments you may assume taking one method of CBD will treat everything all at once. Although it may be true for some people, most will not completely have their anxiety and joint pain alleviated by one method of CBD. For instance, topicals are great for relieving joint pain, muscle soreness, and arthritis while tinctures can help with mood, anxiety, and overall wellness. In turn, many people greatly benefit from a combination of CBD delivery methods.

Dosing A Tincture:

When starting CBD is it best to start with a smaller dosage and gradually increase it. For most people this means starting with 10 to 40 mg a day, equivalent to 1-4 drops. To continuously keep CBD in your system, it is best to take 5-20 mg twice a day, in the morning and before bed, to feel its full effects. If you do not feel any effects after a week, increase your intake by 5mg. Wait at least a week before each increment and continue until you feel a difference or relief from symptoms you are trying to treat. If you feel that you may be taking too much, decrease your dosage and try taking only 10mg once a day.

It is important to keep track of how much CBD you start out with and the time of day you are taking it by either keeping a written diary or making a note on your phone. Recording this information down will allow you to better gauge your CBD journey and for how long and how much CBD you are taking. For instance, you may start with 30 mg taken twice a day and notice two months later that it isn’t as effective as it was in the beginning. You may now want to increase your dosage by 5 mg and see how you are feeling after a week of taking 35 mg. You should also write down if your symptoms are getting better or if you notice any other changes with yourself.
